Paul Harry Toussaint
Born in Jacmel, the cultural heart of Haiti, Paul Harry Toussaint thought he would become a lawyer after arriving in Canada. Instead, he decided to leave law school early to pursue his true passion: food. After his culinary studies at Montreal’s LaSalle College, Paul picked up experience in some of the city’s best kitchens, including Toqué! and other well-known establishments.
In 2013, Chef Paul returned to Haiti, where he taught at École Hotelière and served as a consultant to the biggest names in hospitality. A year later, at Asu—the restaurant at Port-au-Prince’s luxurious Karibe Hotel—Paul was finally able to bring all his talents to bear. As Asu’s executive chef, Paul was able to develop a signature style. When Chef Paul returned to Canada in 2017, he joined the team at Agrikol as its executive chef. A favourite among locals and international celebrities alike, Agrikol is a tribute to Haitian gastronomy and an homage to the country’s rich culture. Then in 2019, Chef Paul added his name to the list of well-known Montreal chefs at the new Time Out Market in order to showcase the epicurean delights of his country of origin.
