City of Montréal

For the past 30 years, Black History Month has celebrated the strength of Montréal's Black communities. It is a special time to highlight their vitality, energy and resilience - and above all, their exceptional contributions to the city.

This year's theme, Celebrating 30 Years of Success, invites us to take a moment to pay tribute to these contributions and achievements. I would like to salute all the work invested over the past 30 years in promoting and showcasing the community's heritage.

Black History Month is also a great opportunity to celebrate how the Black communities have contributed so much to the development of Montréal - communities that shape and enrich the city's unique character. It is clear that as a society we still have work to do to combat systemic racism and inequality, and we are firmly committed to bringing about these changes in the city.
