Patrimoine musical des îles créoles

Salle Bourgie du Musée des beaux-arts de Montréal

Discover how music and dance on the Creole Islands (in the Antilles and the Indian Ocean) were adapted, how they evolved, and how they were transmitted to us. An opportunity to deepen our understanding of concepts such as tradition, authenticity, and “creolization,” and also to become more aware of the essential role musicians play in the oral transmission of musical heritage. A concert-lecture presented by ethnomusicologist Marie-Christine Parent with percussionist Daniel Bellegarde and musicians of the Anba Tonèl ensemble.
