L’arbre à palabre – Fondation MUNTU
The palaver tree is the site of a custom that is an ancient practice on the African continent,
whereby people gather to discuss and come up with solutions beneficial to the future of the community. As part of Black History Month, the practice of gathering at a palaver tree will be taken up here in Montreal in a way that befits the occasion. For three day and through as many steps, it will allow people to take part in a trio of authentic, enriching intercultural and intergenerational experiences. Surrounded by expert contributors, participants will share their knowledge—allowing people to better understand each other—and will reach solutions to identity-related issues and develop strategies that promote positive interactions and exchanges, ensuring we can all continue to live together.
