Africa, Music and Histories!

For 32 years, Productions Nuits d’Afrique has made it its mission to promote and share all types of African-rooted music,

irrespective of its place of origin (Africa, the Caribbean, Latin America) or its style (traditional or completely contemporary). For Black History Month 2019, Productions Nuits d’Afrique will put together a journey through the African history of today and yesterday, via four evenings featuring top-billing international acts. Sekouba Bambino, one of the African continent’s most prolific singers will be back in Montreal for the occasion. Pillars of Malian music Habib Koité and Bassekou Kouyaté will share the stage for a show exploring the African roots of the blues. Benkadi will use a multidisciplinary performance to immerse us in Malinke traditions. Lastly, a new generation of artists who have borrowed from and modernized this musical tradition will be honoured as part of Nuits d’Afrique Sound System.
